Moving memories shared at a trip to the tea rooms

The activities never stop here at Hart Care and a large group of carers and residents recently took a short trip across the road to the fabulous Knightstone Tea Rooms, just one of the many traditional tea rooms in the surrounding area.

The buffet was (as always) fabulous, but it was the World War 2 memorabilia that covers the tea room’s walls that really captured the imagination of our residents.

The Knightstone Tea Rooms are situated on a disused Aerodrome where, during WW2, where brave RAF pilots took off on daring raids to fight the Axis powers.

The poignant location and fantastically preserved memorabilia encouraged many of our residents to begin sharing their own war time stories. The carers, many whom had never heard these types of stories first hand, were absolutely fascinated by what they heard during the afternoon.

The trip to the Knightstone Tea Rooms was an eye opening experience both our carers and many of the residents. We all agreed the stories have helped bring the team closer together and we’ll be returning to the tea rooms in the very near future.
